Technical Services

MMEC Technical Services for the Casino, Cruise, and Event Industries.

Technical Services Offered by MMEC.

Consulting

In some situations, an owner, developer or architect may involve MMEC in a project to supply consulting services. This may be at any phase of a project’s development and can serve a variety of purposes.

Before a project is started, MMEC can supply a needs assessment, range of magnitude (ROM) cost estimating or facility impact review of potential issues such as power, space, acoustical and lighting to name a few.

During a project, MMEC can help solve integration issues, address a newly discovered site constraint or conduct a peer review.

After a project is completed, MMEC may be asked to assess and recommend upgrades or expansion of a system or systems.

These are just a few examples of the consulting services that MMEC can provide. MMEC is available to discuss your particular consulting requirements.

Conceptualization

After an initial meeting with the client to determine the project goals and guidelines, MMEC creates a needs analysis that serves as the basis for the design brief. A creative team is assembled for the project based on this design brief and the conceptualization process begins.

This initial creative process requires a collaborative effort by all members of the project team. These members may include the owner, architect, designer, consultant and other specialists who will be part of the conceptualization effort. In some cases, MMEC participates as a team member who is brought in by the owner, architect, designer or project manager. Every project is unique and MMEC is comfortable adapting to a variety of possible project roles.

Design

At the start of design, MMEC will meet with the client to review and finalize the proposed direction of the project. The design team will review any concept developed to date and then create a design approach that can be executed within the target budget and schedule.

The design of technical systems and the integration of their components require an understanding not only of individual component characteristics and specifications but also these components will work together and integrate within the environment in which they will be used.

MMEC’s designers have extensive experience in a wide range of systems and environments, from performing arts centers, theaters, and exhibitions. They understand how to integrate technical systems into standardized architectural plans. MMEC’s designer’s work in close collaboration with clients to ensure complete satisfaction.

Specification

A technical specification is an invaluable tool for the successful development of a project. Depending on the scope of the project, the specification may consist of a single document or a comprehensive set of associated documents. MMEC has extensive experience drafting specification documents for many different types of projects.

Before engineering, the specification provides the client with a clear understanding of the capabilities and limitations of the system(s).

During bidding, the specification serves as the standard reference by which integrators can prepare an accurate and complete bid.

During fabrication and installation, the specification clearly defines reporting and documentation procedures, equipment and workmanship standards, required testing and training, and system documentation.

During commissioning, the specification clearly delineates responsibilities, acceptance and remediation procedures.

Research and Development

MMEC’s business is rooted in technology and MMEC’s engineers are always searching for new technologies, products and processes that can be applied to the systems MMEC works with and the markets MMEC operates in. MMEC invests heavily in continued education for its employees and encourages participation in industry conferences, seminars, and trade shows in order to gain new knowledge.

Engineering

MMEC’s engineering group provides the documentation and detailed engineering that is necessary for the installation to begin. A comprehensive and detailed design package means no miscommunication during field installation. MMEC also maintains a large, in-house CAD department to support the engineering effort and accurately document all designs, document versions, and changes. MMEC’s engineers are also supported by design personnel who have been involved in the development of the technical specification of the project to ensure continuity.

Project Management

This is truly the most important part of any project.  MMEC’s highly trained project management teams have years of experience working on many varied projects in multiple industries.  They are the ones that ensure that all of MMEC’s projects come in on time and on budget.  Oftentimes temporary relocation of one or more members of the team is necessary during key phases of a project.  The project management team size is determined by the scope of services and the specific requirements of the project (budget, schedule, location, complexity, etc.) and may include a project director, project manager, project coordinator and/or a yard coordinator.

Procurement

MMEC’s procurement department oversees all project purchases as outlined in the scope of supply. Procurement agents are well versed in technical purchasing, dealing in multiple currencies and transactional tax issues. MMEC can pre-fabricate, pre-wire and thoroughly test assemblies prior to shipping into the field, giving MMEC quality control while minimizing costs and time.

MMEC’s years of working in the unforgiving environment of maritime construction mean MMEC knows that it is important to get it right the first time. Every piece of equipment that leaves MMEC’s facility is fully tested and is assured to be in working order when it arrives at the job site.

Logistics

MMEC’s logistics department knows how to get the equipment from the manufacturer to the job site in as little time as possible. This means that your project will not be held up by any shipping or coordination delays. By maintaining relationships with logistics offices in Europe, Asia, and North and South America, MMEC can analyze multiple factors such as available shipping methods, costs, customs regulations and transit times to determine the best option for each shipment to the project.

Installation

MMEC take great pride in the quality of their installations.  MMEC will ensure that the integration of the equipment on your project is seamless.  MMEC’s installation technicians know how to act on the job site; each one is an experienced and accredited industry professional who knows how to work with other trades on-site.  This is especially important in Europe where language and accepted trade practices/construction methods may prove difficult for companies without a prior history of working in a particular country.  For every project, MMEC undertakes the proper and safe installation of all equipment and tools associated with the scope of work.  Safety equipment, special tools, and equipment necessary for a complete installation are always provided.

Programming

MMEC has the knowledge to design programming specifically tailored to the particular application and intended user. For residential and superyacht applications, the desired result is an easy to use, intuitive interface with the actual programming code and technology invisible to the user.

For larger and more complex applications, the integration and programming of IT based audiovisual control technologies via large scale high-speed networks is of critical importance to the proper operation and functionality of the overall system. This significance accompanies a major increase in network scale, bandwidth, and quality of service, making it possible to consider brand new classes of audiovisual applications, as well as unconventional and high-performance implementations of existing ones.

Whatever the application, MMEC can provide succinct and reliable programming to meet your project’s requirements.

Commissioning

The commissioning of your system is the final inspection and sign-off on the project. This phase allows MMEC to be present with the client during the first run through of the system to address any particular client requests and/or concerns that might arise from the actual full operation of the system. During this phase, the MMEC commissioning team will check out and ensure that all equipment is performing properly as an entire system. MMEC will troubleshoot as necessary and take corrective actions as appropriate to bring equipment to the specified operational standards.

MMEC also offers these services to clients where MMEC was not the supplier, but the project requires a separate company to complete the commissioning process.

Training

MMEC personnel are available to provide hands-on training to your staff. MMEC can provide system operation and maintenance training, to the client and/or the client’s designated representatives, staff, etc. Training for operation and systems maintenance can be completed at one of MMEC’s facilities or at the project site. MMEC typically prepares appropriate training materials and then provides copies to all trainees a few weeks prior to training. This organized and hands-on approach to training results in better retention of the material.

Maintenance & Service

Whenever technical solutions are installed, there is eventually a potential need for maintenance and/or upgrades of equipment and software. MMEC stands behind the products it installs and MMEC’s highly trained technicians are ready to provide prompt, professional, maintenance and repair services worldwide. Problems can be solved onsite or repaired in one of MMEC’s service centers.

In many cases, MMEC’s engineers and technicians can assist clients with remote troubleshooting and diagnosis should the need arise. If required, MMEC’s technicians are available to assist on-site. MMEC offers a selection of preventative maintenance and repair solutions to fit the needs of each specific project. At MMEC, client satisfaction is MMEC’s first priority.
